Performances start at 8pm so be early to have enough time to sample some of the Miners fine ciders ales and wines!
Jazz tends to fall on a Monday and the day is shared with the Bluefrontbluesroom (Blues Club) so look out for when Jazz is on – usually it will be around the third Monday of the month from September 2011.
Club Django Gypsy Jazz
C L U B D J A N G O ……. Hot Club Gypsy Jazz
Club Django is a new jazz night, at the Miners Arms, Whitecroft, on the first Monday of the month, to celebrate the musical style of “Hot Club Jazz” made famous by the legendary Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grapelli, who formed the Quintet du Hot Club de France in 1934.
Quintet du Hot Club de France 1934 – Django’s musical style came from many influences – European gypsy music, Parisian jazz café and Bal-musette dance hall music, and most of all American jazz and swing all blending to a unique European jazz sound. Following this vintage tradition, the “Club Django Rhythm Strings” and Guest Musicians will aim to provide a programme of contrasts, from gypsy waltzes to swing melodies and jazz.
We look forward to seeing you!
Club Django Rhythm Strings …… Tony Davey (Guitar), Feliks Tabis (Violin), John Whipps (Guitar), Tony Sharp (Double Bass)
